Privacy
DealDropped is designed to collect as little as possible.
- There are no accounts and no sign-in.
- DealDropped sets one security cookie, only when you search, to protect the search from abuse (see Search security). It sets no tracking cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Amazon content and links are covered below.
Search
A shortened version of your description is sent to DealDropped and Amazon to search. It is made on your device when your browser supports it (with the built-in AI in supported versions of Chrome and Edge); otherwise it is made by simple word filtering on the page.
Personal details such as email addresses, phone numbers and links are removed, but please don’t include personal details in your description.
DealDropped’s server looks the search up on Amazon.com. To keep the service fast and fair, it keeps short-lived caches of search results and short-lived rate-limit counters keyed by IP address, browser session and browser fingerprint. They are not used to build a profile of you.
Search security
To stop automated abuse of the search, your browser creates a private security key the first time you search. The key stays in your browser’s storage and signs each search, so the server can tell real visits from copied requests. It cannot be copied out of your browser, even by this website’s own code.
Along with the public half of that key, your browser sends a one-way code (a browser fingerprint) made from general settings such as browser version, language, time zone and screen size. The server answers with one strictly necessary security cookie that lasts up to 24 hours.
The server uses the session, the fingerprint and your IP address only to limit how many searches can be made in a period. They are kept in memory for at most a day, are never stored with your searches, and are never used for advertising or to track you on other sites. Clearing your browser’s cookies and site data removes the key and the cookie.
Amazon and other third parties
Third parties, including Amazon and other advertisers, may serve content and advertisements, collect information directly from visitors, and place or recognize cookies on visitors’ browsers. Amazon and other third parties may place or read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and similar technologies to collect information, when you follow links to their sites or load content from them. For example, the product images on this site load from Amazon’s image servers, and the “Check price on Amazon” and “View on Amazon” buttons take you to Amazon.com, where Amazon’s cookies apply, including those used for the Associates program.
Amazon explains what it collects and the choices it offers in Amazon’s Privacy Notice and Amazon’s Cookies Notice. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Hosting
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, requested page and time) for security and reliability.
